PERNOD SHOWS INTEREST IN BUYING BACK GLEN GRANT
According to rumors, Pernod is among a short stack of bidders interested in purchasing Glen Grant whiskey, one of the brands they were forced to put up for sale this past summer. Scottish whiskey firms Wm Grant & Sons and Whyte & Mackay are also supposedly involved in the procedure as well as some Portuguese companies and lesser known blended whiskey brands. Campari’s chief Enzo Visone is playing down their interest in Glen Grant amidst rumored involvement, however it may be a tactic to lower pricing especially since Glen is one of the biggest whiskeys in Italy. Although Glen Grant was initially a packaged deal, sources say that some potential bidders may have formed consortiums in order to break up the brands. Formal bidding starts early this year with the winner expected to be announced by the end of March.
