VERMONT LIBERALIZES TASTING LAWS
Vermont Governor Jim Douglas signed into law new legislation that expands the state’s liquor laws and allows consumers more occasions to sample spirits at restaurants, bars and other arenas. In a press release, DISCUS Vice President David Wojnar said, “Vermont consumer will now have increased opportunity to responsibly sample the world’s finest premium spirits products. Vermont is one of the growing lists of states modernizing their liquor laws to bring adult consumers more choices and greater convenience.” House Bill 665 allows the state’s Liquor Control Board to grant up to four educational sampling event permits every year to a person overseeing marketing and educational sampling of alcohol, and is the 14th state in the last five years to pass “tasting legislation.”
