KANSAS CONSUMERS FAVOR THE 3-TIER SYSTEM

Although most news wires and opinion columns lean in favor of direct wine shipments, the Kansas Wine and Spirits Wholesalers Association released a poll showing that a majority of the state’s wine drinkers don’t want direct shipments. In April the Association polled 510 registered voters and more than 2/3 preferred wine shipments to be sent to liquor stores where consumers could pick them up, mainly as a way to prevent underage drinking. The Kansas legislature is still weighing both sides of the shipment debate in committees.
