WINE AND SPIRITS: UP, UP AND AWAY
According to IRI supermarket scans, the wine category boasted positive trends with an 8.4% increase in sales and 1.4% rise in volume ending May 7. Sparkling wine sales increased 5.9% while volume was up 0.8% for the same period.
Spirits trends outperformed wine in volume with a 2.7% jump but lagged in sales with a 6.4% increase ending April 23.
