MASSACHUSETTS VOTES AGAINST WINE IN GROCERY STORES
Victory for liquor stores: Massachusetts voters rejected the Question 1 ballot initiative that would have allowed wine sales in grocery stores yesterday. With 99% of precincts reporting, 56% of voters opposed the measure while 44 supported it.
The opponents of Question 1 reportedly ran a series of TV and radio ads portraying the proposal as a public safety issue, claiming teenagers would be more likely to obtain alcohol in c-stores.
