THE FRENCH PUT A SPIN ON GIN
French-based EuroWineGate introduces G’Vine, the first white spirit, specifically gin, to be distilled from grape vine flowers.
G’Vine is made from a grape base derived from the Ugni Blanc grape flower, which is grown in France’s Cognac region. The spirit is distilled in small batches with a blend of nine botanicals: ginger root, licorice, green cardamom, cassia bark, coriander, juniper berries, cubeb berries, nutmeg and lime. It’s then blended with the flowers of the Ugni Blanc leaves and distilled again, resulting in a unique floral flavor.
G’Vine has 40% abv and retails for $38 a 750-ml. bottle. Currently, the brand is available in New York and New Jersey, but will launch in Florida, Illinois and Washington D.C. this year.
