ORAL ARGUMENTS HEARD IN COSTCO APPEAL
It’s been awhile since we brought up the Costco case in Washington state, and yet once again we’re faced with really nothing but more questions. Yesterday, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in Seattle. The arguments allowed both sides to debate whether the court should extend Judge Pechman’s stay, which ends May 1, on her decision that basically dismantles Washington state’s liquor laws or let the decision take effect while the appeal continues or the legislature creates a fix at the end of April. Costco filed a brief yesterday reiterating its position that an extended stay of Judge Pechman’s decision would be a mistake.
