FLORIDA FAILS TO APPROVE UNLIMITED SHIPPING BILL

The Orlando Sentinel reported today that a Florida house committee failed to approve the wine industry’s model bill (HB 1217) that would allow unlimited direct shipping to residents. The publication called it “an awfully fishy vote” but when the final results were called, the entire bill failed on a 7-6 vote. It looks like Florida may eventually go with SB 2282 which would allow wineries that produce less than 250,000 gallons a year to ship directly to consumers. The legislative session ends in early May.
