SMIRNOFF SOURCE HITS SHELVES

When you mix spring water and vodka, what do you get? Smirnoff Source, Diageo’s latest brand offering. The citrus-flavored drink will initially rollout in the northeast for $10 a 16 oz. four-pack and contains only 3.5% abv.

Diageo has stressed several times the low alcohol content of this product in order to stay on the good graces of the responsibility folks at CSPI and MADD, for example. Beam’s announcement last week that they would refrain from marketing or selling any products in the FMB category is seen by many as a jab at Diageo since Beam currently does not market any FMBs.
