HEAVY FRENCH RAINS COULD HELP SURPLUS

Sixty days and nights of almost incessant rain threaten to ruin large parts of the French wine harvest this year, especially in Bordeaux. Some vineyards have already lost whole crops due to a form of mildew. Although Bordeaux has been hit the worst so far, problems have also been reported in Champagne, Beaujolais, the Loire and the Rhône valley.

Much like the drought in Australia, heavy rains in France could help reverse the current grape glut and drive up prices.
