SOUTH CAROLINA TO LOWER DISTILLERY FEES
The South Carolina State Legislature passed legislation lowering the distillery license free from $50,000 to $1,000, which will clearly help producers in the state.
“FireFly Vodka is a South Carolina vodka, but high fees led us to distill the vodka in Florida,” explains Jim Irvin of FireFly Vodka.
Licensing fees in Florida cost only $800 every two years compared to the $50,000 bi-annual fee required in South Carolina.
“The passage of this legislation will not only open more opportunities for state-wide businesses, but attract companies from across the country to set-up distilleries,” says Scott Newitt, co-founder and owner of FireFly Vodka.
