PREMIUM BRANDS DOMINATE RESTAURANT WINE LISTS
A new study by Winemetrics that analyzed data from over 10,000 US wine lists says that restaurants are most likely to feature California wines that sell less than $39 a bottle. The largest portion of wines consumed in restaurants sell between $25 and $39 per bottle, costing $13 and $19 at retail.
Topping the wine lists are what you’d expect: Beringer, Kendall-Jackson and Robert Mondavi. Beaulieu Vineyard and Chateau Ste. Michelle take up the fourth and fifth slot.
The top 100 wines featured on US wine lists are dominated by U.S. producers, with most coming from California. France, Italy, Australia and Chile make up the rest.
