ANGOSTURA MOVES HEADQUARTERS TO SEAGRAM’S DISTILLERY

After purchasing the Seagram’s distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN from Pernod, Caribbean spirits producer Angostura says it plans to make the facility its flagship U.S. operation and establish a U.S. corporate headquarters.

“We're delighted to expand our presence in Lawrenceburg and elsewhere in the United States, and the establishment of a U.S. headquarters is a first step to accomplishing that goal,” said Lawrence A. Duprey, chairman of CL Financial, Angostura's parent company.

The Angostura distillery in Lawrenceburg is the single largest spirits distillery in the U.S. It produces 9% of the total U.S. domestic spirits consumption, which includes more than 31% of the domestic gin demand, 18% of the domestic vodka demand and 14% of the domestic whiskey demand. As a result, Angostura will be the largest independent alcoholic spirits producer in the U.S.

As you would expect, the Angostura Group of companies will be one of the first new customers, with plans to move some packaging of products, including the Angostura bitters and its Lemon Lime & Bitters product, to Lawrenceburg.

Additional acquisitions could be in the works, the company said.

“Our goals are to aggressively grow our presence in the U.S.,” said Duprey. “We plan to lure business to Lawrenceburg and develop long-term relationships with companies wishing to acquire better quality and service for both distillate and packaging.”

As a part of its agreement with Pernod, Angostura will continue to distill Seagram’s. To read more background, click here.
