IMPORTS A GROWING PART OF GALLO’S BUSINESS

In an article in the Modesto Bee, E&J Gallo vp and premium wine gm Rober Nabedian discusses how in only a decade imports account for 12%-15% of the company’s U.S. sales. Gallo now produces wines in 14 foreign wineries spanning eight countries and four continents, including Germany, France, Italy, Argentina, South Africa, Spain and Australia.

“In the premium category for wines priced above $9 a bottle, Gallo's Ecco Domani is its best-selling import. Ecco Domani also was Gallo's first foreign winery, started from scratch in 1997 in Italy,” writes J.N. Sbranti of the Modesto Bee.

According to the article, Gallo is currently testing wine from Chile under the name Vina Chilcaya.
