Young’s Market Joins with Hayden Beverage
More wholesaler consolidation this week, this time in Idaho with Young’s Market Company and Hayden Beverage Co. Young’s says it is in the final stage of negotiating a definitive agreement with Boise Sales Co, doing business as Hayden Beverage Co. As a part of the agreement, Young’s and Hayden would form a joint-venture to sale and distribute wine in the state of Idaho.
The current management of Hayden Beverage Company will continue in their existing roles.
In making the announcement, John Klein, president of Young’s Market Company, stated: “We are very excited by the prospects of this new venture. It is another step toward the realization of Young’s western region strategy and we were indeed fortunate to partner with the premier beer and wine distributor in the State of Idaho.”
Doddy Hayden, the owner and president of Hayden Beverage said he is “excited” to partner with Youngs. “In our industry’s environment of consolidation at the wholesale and winery level, Young’s and its management team are a great resource to help my family business compete and grow.”
As you know, Young’s is one of the largest distributors and brokers of wine and spirits in the United states with operations in California, Arizona, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Montana and Wyoming.
CAMPARI CONSIDERS FUTURE ACQUISITION
Campari managed to maintain its full year sales and profit goals, although ceo Bob Kunze-Concewitz said: “This year certainly isn't a walk in the park, but we remain confident and confirm our guidance,” with regards to the tough economy.
In the Americas (28.2% of total sales), the US market registered an organic growth of 1.3%, a negative exchange rate effect of 9.6% and a negative perimeter effect of 11.6%.
Bob said the company, which has made a whopping 12 takeover in the past 12 years, is considering another acquisition but wouldn’t comment further. According to Bloomberg, Campari’s chief said in April he planned to make another purchase by the end of the year.
CONSTELLATION BEGINS LARGEST WINERY SOLAR POWER SYSTEM
Constellation said this week that it has begun installation of the largest winery solar power energy system in the world at its Gonzales Winery in Monterey County, California. The one megawatt solar system will cover approximately 170,000 square feet of the main winery warehouse roof and will produce more than 1,700,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, providing approximately 50 percent of the winery's total energy requirements. The installation is expected to be completed by the end of this year, said the company.
Chief Rob Sands stated: "The installation of this solar energy system demonstrates our focus on sustainable business practices that have social, environmental and economic benefits. As the global leader in the wine business, our goal is to establish best practice industry standards that will be beneficial to the environment, as well as to our customers and communities around the world."
RYBEN SPIRITS LLC is launching Harvest Grand Pumpkin Spice Cream Liqueur for the suggested retail price of $21.99 for a 750 ml bottle.
