FILED MAY 17, 2013We're down to the last few hours of the 2013 Missouri legislature session and the fate of the franchise legislation bill (SB 114) is still unknown. Yesterday members of the Senate and House convened hoping to strike a compromise before the end of the session today.
FILED MAY 16, 2013Talk of vodka price wars earlier this week (see WSD 05-13-2013 ) got us thinking about the vodka category as a whole. It's impressive to think that as the largest spirits category, it continues to post growth. Vodka currently commands 34% share of the spirits market in control states, and still managed to grow volumes by 4.5% and dollar sales by 6%, per 12-month NABCA data. To put things into perspective, Irish whiskey remains the fastest growing overall spirits category at 18% in terms of volume, but only makes up 0.8% share of the total market.
