Erle Martin Departs from Crimson Wine Group

Effective immediately, Crimson Wine Group chief Erle Martin has parted ways with the company, per an SEC statement from the wine group. The board of directors has begun a search to fill the vacancy, but until they appoint a successor for Erle, Patrick DeLong, the current coo, will step in as interim president and chief executive.

Crimson Wine Group, owners of Napa's Pine Ridge, Oregon's Archery Summit, Edna Valley's Chamisal Vineyard's (formerly Domaine Alfred) and Sonoma's Seghesio Vineyards, was created in 2007 by investment firm Leucadia National Corp, but has since spun off into a stand alone company. As of 2012, it sells around 250,000 cases of wine annually. Erle has been with the company since its inception, but his long career in the wine business includes overseeing Francis Ford Coppola's wine business and heading Young's Market's California fine wine division.

You may recall, the company's svp of marketing Mary Jo Dale also left the company earlier this year [see WSD 07-30-2014].

The company did not respond to a request for comment by press time. We'll update on this story as we know more.
