Remy Cointreau to Acquire Westland Distillery

FILED DECEMBER 1, 2016

Remy Cointreau has announced it will buy high-end single malt whiskey maker Westland Distillery.

Seattle-based Westland Distillery was founded in 2010 by Emerson Lamb--who left the company in 2015--and Matt Hofmann. They distill out of a $4 million, 13,000-square-foot facility, and have created one of the most prominent American single malt whiskey brands. The Westland portfolio includes a range of products priced between $70 and $125, with nationwide distribution handled by Anchor Distilling.

"It has been our stated goal to put Washington state on the map as the world class place to make single malt whiskey alongside Scotland," Emerson told the Seattle Times last year.

No financial details were revealed, but the transaction is expected to close before the end of the year.
